The Pilates Room Herts: a website to bring group classes back

Before 2020 Sarah ran several Pilates classes a week. Covid stopped the groups. Private lessons continued, alongside a tutoring business, but the energy to rebuild the classes never quite arrived — until May 2026. The hall was booked. The first class was a week away. She needed a site that could carry the restart.

The client

Sarah is a qualified Pilates instructor with more than fifteen years’ experience. She teaches mat, chair, ball and 1-2-1 sessions for women in Hertfordshire, from venues serving Rickmansworth and Mill End. The line on the site is hers: stronger, balanced, for life — all levels welcome.

In her own words, the classes were never just a timetable. Students became friends. After lockdown she kept teaching privately, but running groups on top of tutoring was too much. The niggle stayed. Turning 56, she decided the business — her other passion — was coming back.

The challenge

This was not a polish on an existing shop. There was no live site to iterate. The job was a first public face for a teacher people already knew in the hall, aimed at women nearby who had never met her: back pain, posture, low-impact movement, beginners.

  • Make “Book a class” the obvious next step from the first screen
  • Name the places — Rickmansworth and Mill End — so local search and local trust match
  • Show the teacher, not stock wellness photography
  • Keep class types, pricing and venues easy to update as the restart grew

The site

A booking path, not a brochure

“Book a Class” sits in the header. “Book now” sits in the hero. The page asks a specific person a specific question — a woman in Hertfordshire who wants strength, posture and confidence — then gives her one action.

Local, on purpose

The headline carries Rickmansworth and Mill End. Class types, pricing and venues sit below so someone can see it is a real hall, not a national franchise. That is how a restart finds its first week of students.

Photography that belongs to her

Hayley Posener shot the hero. Purple kit, wooden floor, the teacher in the room. The site does not borrow a generic studio. People who already knew Sarah would recognise her; people who did not would still see a person, not a template.

New website

First public site for the group-class restart — brand, booking path, and local pages.

What Sarah wrote

“It's been a long journey. Before 2020, I was holding several Pilates classes a week and had a loyal group of dedicated students, many of whom became dear friends. Fast forward to Covid, lockdown and many other obstacles, and I had to end the classes. I have continued to teach private lessons, but I struggled to find the energy and time to return to teaching groups. Alongside running my tutoring business, it was just too much. But there was always that niggle, that I wanted to return.”

“So, here we are in May 2026, and I'm a week away from turning 56. With the very much appreciated support, advice and expertise of my friend and superb website developer, Baljeet Dogra (FutureStackDev) and my dear friend and excellent photographer Hayley Posener (Naturally Captured by Hayley), my dream is taking shape. The hall is booked, the advertising is underway for my first class, and here is my brand-spanking-new website.”

The takeaway

A returning local teacher does not need a platform. She needs a page that says where she is, who the class is for, and how to book — with photographs of the actual person. The site went live as the hall was booked. That was the point.

Starting a local practice, or starting again?

I build websites for teachers and studios who need a clear booking path and a brand that looks like them — not a generic wellness template.
